Black Keys releases "Lonely Boy" video
The new video for “Lonely Boy” is a simple uncorrected (or maybe overcorrected) recording of a middle aged guy showing off his dance moves to the song. When I saw it for the first time I couldn’t help but think of Fatboy Slim’s video for “Praise You” directed by and starring Spike Jonze back in ‘99. Love them both.

Andrew Bird (and Beck 10 years ago) are the only living musicians who can turn me into a crazed fan not unlike a crazy teen seeing The Beatles in 1964. I LOVE HIM. And I’m crazy excited about this documentary.
twentyfourbit:
Trailer: Andrew Bird Documentary, Fever Year
We just heard Andrew Bird’s Norman score, but now comes a film project focused entirely on the singer-songwriter...

NPR First Listen: Ryan Adams' Ashes & Fire →
Album due October 11. I may be partial, being an insane super fan of DRA, but I’m already in love with this very country album. Ridiculously excited for the midwest tour!

New video of the title track on the forthcoming album.

Video: Ryan Adams - “Ashes & Fire”
Last week’s Iron Maiden cover was a welcome treat to tide us over until Ryan Adams’ Ashes & Fire arrives in full next month, but here’s an even better glimpse of what’s to come: the title track, performed live for an intimate studio take via...

Retro D’Luxe reunion at Pyramid Scheme
A bottle and a half of champagne and the biggest 80s music fan I know accompanied me last night to The Pyramid Scheme. I was thinking of requesting Whitney’s “Wanna Dance With Somebody” in advance on the facebook page but realized there was no way DJ Jef Leppard wouldn’t play it, video and all. Ah, I’ve missed you Retro...

local band spotlight: Fancy Bread →
I went to Founders last Thursday to hear Chicago’s Cameron McGill and What Army. There were a couple openers, Grand Rapids’ Fancy Bread and Philly’s Adam Arcuragi & The Lupine Chorale Society. Both bands were quite enjoyable but it was the first sound check by Fancy Bread that got my attention. Singer Tim Strother played a bar from Ryan Adams’ “English Girls...

It’s almost here! The fourth annual Record Store Day! I’m so very excited. For those of you who are unfamiliar the website has a great description:
This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds...

Walk The Moon opening for Paul Tefft and the Nation at Jukes. Wow.
I went to hear my friends Paul Tefft and the Nation last night at Jukes, my first time seeing them since Paul moved back to Grand Rapids from Austin. There were 3 openers last night but Walk The Moon from Cincinnati really killed it. It was their first time ever playing in MIchigan, I’m betting the first of many shows to...
