Live in Grand Rapids this Friday: Frontier Ruckus

song: “Nerves of the Nightmind” - track one from 2010’s Deadmalls & Nightfalls

If you’re looking to hear a truly talented, emotive band tomorrow night look no further than downtown. Frontier Ruckus will be playing the new-ish venue The Pyramid Scheme, a much different venue than their last performance in GR at the Ladies Lit Club. The LLC show was fantastic; An intimate, warming set of music on a snowy Friday December evening. But Frontier Ruckus knows how to rock too, as I witnessed last year at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. What a show. What makes them so great? Their poetic lyrics and thoughtful instrumentation drawing heavily from banjo, singing-saw, trumpet, and melodica. It’ll be the sixth time I’ve seen this east-sider Michigan band in the last year and a half. I’m sure it won’t be my last.
